Start of the build within sight!

A small army of people gathered at Experian’s offices on Electric avenue to discuss the tenders received from 6 local builders for the pavilion rebuild project. The assembly included the headteacher, four governors, two architects, a quantity surveyor, Sarah from the Local Authority and two people from Experian!

The surveyor reported that the quality of the bids had been very good and that we were in the fortunate position of being able to choose from six strong bids, although he did have a personal preference. Each bid was reviewed and the architects reported on their experience of the preferred bidder. The Headteacher reviewed and commented upon the builder’s website and after a general discussion, the representatives from the school agreed to take the advice from the surveyor and move to contract with the chosen builder. We can’t reveal the name just yet because it is subject to contract which we hope to conclude in the next week or so.

There is more good news in that the raised funds so far are more than the cost of the basic structure so we are in a position to bring forward parts of the furnishing phase. We still have a shortfall of about £20k to complete the project and all parties are working to close this gap. Any ideas will be gratefully received as will any donations of goods or services required to complete the build. If you think you can help then please contact the school.

All being well the build will start on the 8th February and will be completed by Easter at the beginning of April.

Keith
